The first friendly face you see when you walk into the Class and Pay division is Departmental Personnel Specialist Crystal Hatcher, and she is ready and willing to help. With over 20 years of service at SPD, her willingness to help and enduring positive demeanor create a welcoming and productive environment, making her a pleasure to work with and a reliable point of contact for all.
Crystal started her career in Certifications before moving to C&P. She has a deep understanding about the division’s processes, reviewing each incoming request to ensure accuracy and completeness, coordinating with agencies for missing information, routing requests to the appropriate personnel, performing final reviews, and disseminating responses both externally and internally. This includes facilitating the establishment, reallocation, or verification of position requests. “I try to make their jobs a little easier,” said Crystal.
Crystal is particularly thankful for her supervisor, Deputy Director Amanda Mercado. “She’s one of the best bosses I’ve ever had,” Crystal said, appreciating her support, encouragement, and her listening ear.
Crystal’s coworkers keep her coming to work every day. C&P has a fun mix of personalities ensuring an uplifting and supportive environment. While the jobs are challenging and intricate, the team works hard and has each other’s back. Crystal ensures the little things are taken care of so the whole team can thrive.
