Training Information

State Personnel offers a variety of both professional development and procedure-based training classes to state employees at no charge. A list of training classes, along with course descriptions, is available on the Training Classes page. State Personnel offers full-day and half-day training classes. A training schedule is available on the Calendar page.

Training may be in-person, virtual, or hybrid (both in-person and virtual simultaneously). Most of our classes are available virtually, but some classes are only offered in person because of group activities, case studies, and discussions in class that significantly contribute to learning and application of concepts in the workplace.

State employees register for training through their designated agency Training Coordinator.  Employees must also have approval from their supervisors to participate in training.

The training facility address, directions, and parking instructions are available on the Training Center page.

If you are unable to attend training for which you are scheduled, you should notify your Training Coordinator immediately so they can attempt to provide a substitution. Vacant seats may prevent other employees from participating.

  • Registration starts 30 minutes prior to the training start time. Please arrive on time to register and find seating.
  • Participants must be present for the entire scheduled class time to receive a certificate and credit in State Personnel records.
  • Cell phones should be silenced during training.
  • Copies of the slide presentation and manuals (if applicable) will be provided to you, and you may keep this information for reference. Pens and highlighters will be available.
  • Training is a work function. Please dress appropriately.
  • Room temperatures fluctuate; dressing in layers is recommended.
  • State law does not allow the State Personnel Department to furnish food.  You may bring lunch, snacks, or drinks. You will have access to a refrigerator, microwave, ice, water, and coffee.
  • You will have approximately one hour for lunch. Information regarding nearby restaurants will be available.
