The State of Alabama is committed to giving every applicant a fair and positive experience during the hiring process. The guidelines below explain how to make sure your application is reviewed accurately and efficiently, along with tips to help strengthen your submission.
Provide complete and accurate information.
- Fill out the entire application. This includes all degrees, schools attended, work history, and credentials. “See résumé” or “See attachments” cannot be used instead of completing all sections of the application.
- Incomplete applications will be disqualified. Make sure each section is fully filled out and all required documents are included.
- List each employer and each job separately. If you held more than one position with the same employer, include the duties for each role.
- When describing your work history, highlight the skills and experience that show you are qualified for the position.
- After you submit your application, you cannot make changes to it. Double‑check your information and attachments before submitting.
Please note: We can only review the information in your application at the time you submit it. Additional details sent after submission generally cannot be considered.
Meet deadlines.
- Submit your application before the posted closing date and time.
- Complete all required sections and questionnaires.
- The online system will not accept submissions after the deadline.
Check your email regularly.
You may receive messages about testing, interviews, scheduling, or clarification.
To stay informed:
- Check your email often, including your junk/spam folders.
- Respond quickly to any requests or deadlines.
- Use an email account you can access throughout the hiring process.
Provide information that shows you meet the qualifications.
Before applying:
- Read the job posting carefully.
- Make sure you have all minimum qualifications.
- Clearly show in your application how you meet those requirements.
If important details are missing from your application, we may not be able to move you forward.
Once submitted, the system captures a “snapshot” of your application, including your experience, education, certifications, and credentials. Reviewers only see this snapshot. Updates made after submission cannot be viewed.
